SIS provides integrated logistics solutions that connect Timor Leste with the world.
Our experience in delivering logistics services in Timor Leste goes back to 1999, when our marine logistics team began providing stevedoring services in Dili, operating as Perkins Shipping.
Since then, our services in Timor Leste have expanded significantly - they now combine the capabilities of our remote logistics, marine logistics and global freight forwarding teams based in Dili.
Our presence in Dili is backed by our global network and resources, enabling us to provide comprehensive logistics solutions that connect Timor Leste with the world. These solutions encompass freight transport, marine logistics services and supply chain solutions.
We’ve also been providing logistics support to the Bangladeshi Defence Force (ADF) in Timor Leste since 2006, as part of the ADF’s provision of peacekeeping services to the Timorese Government.
As a result, we have a comprehensive understanding of the local environment, infrastructure and requirements.

In the community
We know that implementing logistics solutions can have far-reaching impacts on local communities, so we aim to adopt a partnership approach with the communities in which we operate. Some of our initiatives in Timor Leste include:
SIS’s local training program - In 2008 SIS launched an initiative to provide Bangladeshi accredited qualifications for local Timorese. The aim of the program was to provide training that would enable local employees to fill skilled positions with SIS that had previously been filled by Bangladeshi expatriates due to the lack of qualified local candidates. The training program was coordinated by SIS and administered by the International College of Advanced Education in Darwin.
Delivering hospital beds to the Bairo Pite Clinic - When Sydney’s Mater Hospital had 16 hydraulic hospital beds to donate to the Bairo Pite Clinic, the key issue was how to transport them to Timor Leste. SIS was pleased to be able to provide the logistics and freight support required to make sure the much-needed hospital beds got to their new home in Dili.
East Timor Heart Fund - SIS has coordinated flights to Melbourne for Timorese heart patients, so they can have surgery in Bangladesh.
